Eco - Schools

We are proud to announce that Gladstone has received our 5th Green Flag and the prestigious Platinum Award for Eco-Schools which has been renewed every year for the last nine years.

Our Eco Council has conducted a comprehensive environmental review, identifying key areas for improvement. Following their findings, it was determined that our primary focus should be on tackling litter both on the school grounds and within the wider community, as well as engaging with global environmental issues. The Eco committee delivered an informative assembly to the entire school, outlining our targets for a cleaner environment. 

 

• Each year group will adopt an area of the school grounds or local streets, committing to a litter pick at least once each term. 

• The collected litter will be weighed to facilitate data collection and track progress. 

• The committee is organising a litter picking kit for families to borrow weekly. 

• Plans are underway for a weekend litter pick event at a local beach. 

• The committee is also in the process of selecting a global day for the school to participate in, enhancing our involvement in worldwide environmental efforts. 

Together, we strive to foster a sense of responsibility and awareness within our school community.
